"Calligraphy word "" Al- Awwal"" (Name #74) - ""Al-Awwal"": Al-Awwal, the First. Al-Bayhaqi said: “Al-Awwal is the One Whose existence has no beginning.” According to Ibn Jareer At-Tabari “He is Al-Awwal Who existed before everything without a limit (of beginning).” Something similar was reported from Al-Farraa’ who said “Al-Awwal means before all things.” According to Al-Khattaabi “Al-Awwal is the One Who preceded all things. He deserves to be the first since He existed when there was nothing before or with Him.” I took little inspiration from the movement and harmony of Arabic Scripts for writing like khat e diwani, Khat e diwani jeli and Riqa diwani. This cursive style developed during the reign of the early Ottoman Turks (16th century ). It was invented by Housam Roumi. It was labeled the Diwani script because it was used in the Ottoman diwan.
