Significance: The college is the only school in Pakistan that is a part of the Headmasters' Conference. The foundation stone of the main building was laid by the Viceroy, the Earl of Dufferin and Ava on 3 November 1886. Aitchison College is the lineal descendant of the Wards School at Ambala and the Chiefs Colleges. The College is named after the then Lt. Governor of the Punjab, Sir Charles Umpherston Aitchison.
